Synamedia announced the launch of Quortex Switch, a next-generation SaaS-based multi-CDN management tool designed to optimize streaming costs, quality and reliability. An industry first based on the latest content steering standards, Quortex Switch simplifies the design of multi-CDN systems to dynamically route end-users to the best available content sources.
It eliminates the need for proprietary client-side code and enables seamless standards-based communication between the player and the content steering server, allowing for benefits such as mid-stream switching across multiple CDNs for uninterrupted viewing experiences.
Making its debut at The NAB Show 2025 in Las Vegas (April 5-9), Quortex Switch is the latest addition to Synamedia’s award-winning Quortex portfolio. A standalone solution, Quortex Switch supports any CDN from any provider —including Synamedia’s Fluid Edge private CDN.
It puts an end to traditional CDN switching inefficiencies by enabling dynamic traffic balancing and intelligent content delivery.
Quortex Switch empowers content providers to dynamically manage complex video streaming topology with ease. The tool enables configurable balancing rules for each audience segment, improving efficient traffic management and service reliability. With it, content providers can streamline their delivery based on QoE metrics and by segmenting viewers based on factors such as geographic location and assigning dedicated CDNs to certain audiences. This data-driven approach allows for informed balancing decisions, enabling uninterrupted streaming and rapid disaster recovery when needed.
Beyond performance optimization, Quortex Switch helps content providers reduce costs by using balancing decisions to manage CDN usage commitments and pricing differences. This prevents payment for unused capacity and unnecessary fees. It can also allow customers to prioritize decisions based on energy usage, making streaming more sustainable and cost-effective.
Synamedia’s team of distinguished engineers actively participate in developing content steering global standards with organizations such as the DASH Industry Forum (DASH-IF), the Streaming Video Technology Alliance (SVTA) and the Common Access Tokens (CAT) and Common Media Client Data (CMCD) initiatives, which contributed to the launch of Quortex Switch.
