Meta’s RayBan smart glasses are getting new updates includingsupport for video calling and Apple Music, a new cat-eye frame style, and an officialbeta roll out of the multimodal AI assistant.
In addition to these, there are some new minor updates for theexisting Wayfarer and Headliner models. Besides both the models getting newcolors, the Headliner will also have a new low-bridge fit for people who strugglewith their glasses slipping down their face.
The video call feature is gradually rolling out to everyone,and will enable the wearer to make video calls via WhatsApp and Messenger. The newlyintegrated support for Apple Music will allow the wearer to navigate AppleMusic hands-free. With the glasses alone, you can handle functions like selectingsongs to play, playing a playlist, station, or artist, as well as asking forrecommendations based off of your listening history.
Lastly, Meta’s multimodal AI program that was first launchedas early access back in December is coming to a wider audience – precisely allowners of the glasses in the US and Canada. The multimodal AI assistant is capableof capturing pictures with the glasses and providing enhanced context regardingthe images. It can, for example, tell the wearer about a specific plant species,generate captions for images, translate signs written in a foreign language, etc.
