BOE enters energy storage and VPP sectors
BOE, a leader in semiconductor display products, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Sichuan Chuantou Energy Co., Ltd. and Chengdu Hi-Tech Development Co., Ltd., both state-owned investing enterprises. The collaboration focuses on developing renewable energy storage demonstration projects, building energy internet infrastructure, and investing in the new energy sector. In the initial phase, the partners will jointly develop an electrochemical energy storage and virtual power plant (VPP) project for commercial and industrial (C&I) applications in the Zero-Carbon Park of Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone. The project will ensure a stable power supply to the park and act as a flexible, dispatchable resource within Chengdu’s virtual power plant network to support demand-side response and address grid stability challenges during peak load periods.
At SNEC 2025 in June, BOE announced that its perovskite BIPV full-scene demonstration project won the first Photovoltaic Building Evaluation Certificate (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
