As Yellowjackets' resident cinephile Van Palmer, Liv Hewson has been a must-watch actor for Mashable's entertainment team, who are all devoted to the cannibal drama's hive. So, when they came by our studio for a Say More interview, Entertainment Editor Kristy Puchko asked about what their must-see movies and TV are.
Hewson, who grew up in Australia, shared their appreciation for an array of American television, ranging from iconic comedy series The Simpsons to heralded drama series The Americans, to the unstoppable force that is The Real Housewives. They even tested out a playful Housewives catchphrase that would be all their own.
Talking movies, Hewson revealed their appreciation of the Muppets and the bonkers Best Picture winner Everything Everywhere All At Once. Through these influences, the non-binary actor, who recently accepted the Rising Star Award from the Critics' Choice Association's Celebration of LGBTQ Cinema and Television, mused on how these productions inspire them and reflect the kind of movies and shows they aim to be a part of.
Speaking of Everything Everywhere All At Once, Hewson reflected, "I would give anything to be a part of something like this. It's always projects where I can tell that everyone involved has everything they need to make it, cares about making it, and is thrilled to be working on it."
They continued, "That's the energy I really try to bring to stuff I'm a part of. It's just the environment I'm desperate to create, participate in. And I'm a sucker for practical effects."
