🚀 JK Srivastava Hynfra (JKSH)

The Indian state of Andhra Pradesh has secured INR 510 billion ($6 billion) in green hydrogen investments through memorandums of understanding (MoU) with JK Srivastava Hynfra (JKSH) and Yamna, as it seeks to establish the state as a Green Hydrogen Valley by 2030.

Both companies have signed agreements with the state’s renewable energy agency, New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Limited (NREDCAP), at the Green Hydrogen Summit 2025 held recently, in the presence of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.

JK Srivastava Hynfra (JKSH), a new joint venture (JV) between Poland’s Hynfra and India’s JK Srivastava Group, plans a green hydrogen and ammonia hub worth INR 350 billion ($4.1 billion) near the port of Visakhapatnam. Powered by up to 3 GW of solar, wind and battery storage technologies, it will produce up to 1 million tons per annum (Mtpa) of green ammonia. Operations on site are expected to begin in early 2029.

It aims to export a significant share of green ammonia produced in Andhra Pradesh to the markets of Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, where the JV says it will decarbonize power generation through co-firing with coal. The remaining share will be supplied for industrial use in fertilizers, power, transport and digital infrastructure sectors within India.

“Our goal is to create a platform for green hydrogen and its derivatives that meets the most demanding international standards, including RFNBO certification,” said JKSH Board Member and President of Hynfra, Tomoho Umeda. Hynfra is also working with local partners in Jordan and Ukraine for renewable ammonia production (see Green Ammonia Production Plant in Jordan).

“This agreement formalizes our cooperation with the Government of Andhra Pradesh and marks the beginning of one of the largest green ammonia projects in the Asia-Pacific region,” said the Chairman and Managing Director of JKSH, JK Srivastava. “Thanks to its scalability and reliance on clean energy, this project positions India as a key supplier of next-generation strategic energy carriers.”

Another green hydrogen and ammonia specialist, Yamna, based in the United Kingdom (UK), plans to produce up to 1 Mtpa of green ammonia near the port of Krishnapatnam. Worth INR 160 billion ($2 billion), it will be a phased grid-connected project based on a develop-build-own-operate (DBOO) model.

Yamna targets both domestic and export markets for this facility, leveraging the state’s port infrastructure to reach global demand centers in Europe and Asia. Yamna is already backed by UK-based private equity fund manager HYCAP, and says that several leading international finance institutions have expressed interest in supporting this initiative.

Yamna is also part of a consortium led by EDF for a green hydrogen project in Oman (see Hydrom’s Auction Round 2 Ends With 2 Green Hydrogen Projects).

Andhra Pradesh’s Green Hydrogen Valley Vision targets 2 GW of electrolyzer production by 2027 and 5 GW by 2029, along with 1.5 MMT green hydrogen annually by 2029. It estimates these plans to generate 25 GW of renewable energy by 2029.

Under the Andhra Pradesh Integrated Clean Energy Policy, 2024, the state targets to add over 160 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030, comprising 78.5 GW of solar, 35 GW of wind, and 22 GW of pumped storage. As of June 30, 2025, Andhra Pradesh had installed over 5 GW of solar PV capacity.
