To the mixed sound of "Nothing beats a Jet2 holiday" and English singer Jess Glynne's 2015 hit "Hold My Hand," thousands of people are posting vacation-themed bloopers and memes. The advert for Jet2, a British low-budget airline, has over 1.2 million videos on TikTok, just in time for the season of beach getaways, missed flights, and holiday adventures and mishaps.

The most viral of these videos shows the latter. As air-travel anxiety has spiked, the meme makes light of travel-related setbacks.

For those in the United Kingdom, Jet2 is known for easy, low-cost European flights. Its commercials are well-recognized too. As UK-based writer Hannah Cowton-Barnes explains, the commercial's jingle was "unrelenting" over the last decade or so: "broadcast across every UK TV channel that takes ads since 2015."

But the sound has put Jet2 on the map, well beyond the UK, thanks to TikTok.

The sound has become something of a summer anthem, as Vulture and Forbes have pointed out. And the effects of virality have trickled. Glynee has garnered attention for her role in the sound, recently posting a TikTok that received over 4 million views. The original commercial for the airline, released in 2022, now has over 1 million views on YouTube. Zoe Lister, the voiceover artist behind the advert, has also acknowledged the virality of the trend. She's even been invited to radio shows and festivals to voice the iconic catchphrase in person.

Jet2 is certainly getting some free publicity too, just as it announced a record year for profit. The airline has embraced its TikTok fame, announcing a lip-sync challenge and £1,000 giveaway on the app. After all, nothing beats a Jet2 holiday.
