Germany’s latest innovation tender round on May 1, 2025 has concluded with the Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) awarding 488 MW to solar and storage systems.
The innovation tender category is open to renewable energy technologies combined with storage systems. For this tender round, the agency offered a total capacity of 486 MW. In response, it received 158 bids representing an oversubscribed volume of 2.02 GW.
The agency finally selected 29 bids for a total award volume of 488 MW, all of which relate to solar and storage systems.
Bavaria with 137 MW took home the lion’s share, followed by 124 MW in Saxony-Anhalt, and 49 MW in Lower Saxony.
Winning bids ranged from the lowest €0.05/kWh to the highest €0.0639/kWh, significantly lower than the ceiling tariff of €0.09/kWh (see Germany Fixes Ceiling Tariffs For 2025 Solar PV Tenders).
The average weighted bid was determined to be €0.0615/kWh, compared to the €0.0709/kWh reported for the previous round when the agency awarded 587 MW to solar and storage systems (see Solar & Storage Projects Inundate Germany’s Innovation Tender).
Bundesnetzagentur will hold the next innovation tender round on September 1, 2025.
