Located in the Bashang region of Zhangjiakou, Hebei Province in North China, the project is a key national initiative jointly led by the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Science and Technology, National Energy Administration, and State Grid. As the world’s largest integrated energy project combining wind, solar, storage, and transmission capabilities, it has played a critical role in advancing hybrid power generation, grid integration, and energy storage technologies since its launch in 2009—significantly accelerating China’s renewable energy transition.
