JA Solar, a global leader in the PV industry, was awarded the Top Green Innovation Award 2025 in Europe by EUPD Research, recognizing the company’s consistent effort to promote sustainability through its innovative ITS Low Carbon (ITS LC) module series.
ITS LC is a manufacturing and supply chain optimization initiative designed to significantly reduce the carbon footprint of solar modules. Rather than introducing a new module product, ITS LC builds on JA Solar’s existing manufacturing system and is fully compatible with its n-type product line, including the flagship DeepBlue 4.0 Pro series.
Compared to the standard China production baseline, ITS LC reduces its carbon footprint by up to 40%, as verified by a third-party ISO 14067 Life Cycle Assessment. The assessment covers every major stage of the production process, from polysilicon sourcing through ingot, wafer, cell, and final module assembly.
This achievement was made possible by a combination of innovative material strategies and operational discipline. ITS LC incorporates an enhanced share of polysilicon from Fluidized Bed Reactor (FBR) technology, which consumes significantly less energy than the traditional Siemens process, along with an emphasis on incorporating recycled polysilicon into production. Life cycle assessments are conducted across JA Solar’s production network, supporting transparency and continuous improvement.
JA Solar’s ability to deliver such results stems from its vertically integrated manufacturing model, which provides full control over material inputs, process stability, traceability, and quality control. This integrated approach enables measurable, consistent sustainability performance that is difficult to replicate across fragmented supply chains.
“Our goal is always to deliver high-performance products with a lighter environmental footprint,” said Aiqing Yang, Executive President of JA Solar. “ITS LC reflects our long-term commitment to sustainable development and the resilience of our supply chain. We’re honored to see this work recognized by EUPD Research.”
The award highlights JA Solar’s leadership in driving responsible manufacturing practices in the PV industry. As global markets place greater emphasis on carbon accountability, JA Solar is committed to developing solutions that combine technological performance with long-term environmental value.
