TÜV SÜD PID-p certification for LONGi’s HPBC 2.0 modules: Leading Chinese vertically integrated solar PV company LONGi said that its HPBC 2.0 solar modules, Hi-MO 9 and Hi-MO X10, have received the TÜV SÜD's PID-p certification under PPP58234A:2025 and IEC TS 62804-1 Ed2 (DTS) standards. PID-p (Potential Induced Degradation - Polarization) is a serious industry issue that causes power loss due to charge buildup in the passivation layer of silicon cells. Unlike traditional PID-s, PID-p progresses faster but is reversible with UV light exposure. LONGi’s modules demonstrated outstanding resistance to PID-p in rigorous tests simulating real-world conditions, confirming their superior efficiency and durability. The company said that this milestone highlights LONGi’s leadership in anti-PID technology and its commitment to driving photovoltaic standards through advanced R&D.
UtmoLight’s 0.72 m² perovskite module enters Solar Cell Efficiency Tables: In a release, China based solar technology company Wuxi Utmost Light Technology Co Ltd (UtmoLight), said that its commercial standard module has been included in the latest Solar Cell Efficiency Tables, Version 66 for 2025, published by Professor Martin Green’s team. The listed module has an area of 0.72 m² and has achieved a power conversion efficiency of 18.1%, having previously been certified by the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). Earlier this year, UtmoLight had also demonstrated a stabilized full-area efficiency of 17.04% on a large-area 2.82 m² perovskite module, corresponding to a stabilized module power output of 480.5 W. Just few weeks back, UtmoLight had announced solutions for perovskite solar modules (see China Solar PV News Snippets)
Dasun’s HJT facility nearing completion: HJT manufacturer Dasun has announced that its solar cell and module manufacturing facility will begin production in June this year. Located in Anji County, Zhejiang Province, the deal for the facility was signed in 2023 with a total investment of RMB 5 billion ($694.4 million). The facility will have a 4.8 GW high-efficiency heterojunction (HJT) cell line and a 7.2 GW module production line. In February 2024, Dasun signed a procurement contract with leading PV equipment supplier Maxwell for a 1.2 GW HJT cell production line.
World Precision launches tungsten-based diamond wire facility: Manufacturer of non-standard automation equipment and precision components, World Precision, announced that it will be establishing a tungsten-based diamond wire production facility for solar PV wafer cutting. The facility is being initiated through its subsidiary. According to its environmental impact assessment report, the facility will be located in Kaili City, Guizhou Province, and has an investment of RMB 120 million (USD 16.7 million). The facility is designed to have an annual capacity of 20 million kilometers of diamond wire substrate (tungsten wire). The company plans to procure 355 sets of supporting wire-drawing equipment. The process involves heating 0.07 mm tungsten wire to 350°C in an electric furnace and drawing it through a 12-die sequence to achieve a final diameter of 0.028 mm, meeting the specifications for solar wafer slicing.
