DKEM buying controlling stake in Solamet: Chinese conductive silver paste manufacturer DK Electronic Materials (DKEM) intends to acquire 60% equity stake in Zhejiang Solamet for RMB 696 million ($96.67 million) in cash. With this, DKEM will gain controlling interest in Solamet Materials’ PV conductive silver paste business that was originally developed by DuPont. Solamet’s products are widely used in high-efficiency solar cell technologies including p-type and n-type TOPCon, HJT, BC and perovskite tandem cells. In 2023, Zhejiang Solamet reported RMB 1.261 billion ($175.14 million) in revenue, expanding the same to RMB 3.553 billion ($493.47 million) in 2024.
Microquanta publishes perovskite research in Science journal: Perovskite manufacturer Microquanta says it has become the 1st Chinese company to have independently publish a research article in Science journal as the first author institution. The published research paper is titled 3D laminar flow-assisted crystallization of perovskites for square meter-sized solar modules. The paper outlines an industrialization path for achieving synergy among efficiency, stability, and high-yield mass production in large-area perovskite modules. It introduces the company’s proprietary 3D Laminar Airflow Design (LAD) technology which constructs a large, uniform laminar airflow field by combining theoretical modeling with 3D printing.
300,000 ton solar-grade quartz sand project complete: CNBM Tongliao Quartz Sand Industry Co., Ltd., a China National Building Material Group Corporation (CNBM) subsidiary, has completed the construction of its 300,000 ton/year solar-grade quartz sand project in Tongliao, Inner Mongolia. The facility includes 200,000 ton/year low-iron feldspar production lines. It has received certification from local authorities after passing final inspection. It was built for a total investment of RMB 200 million ($27.78 million). According to the company. The project overcomes key technical bottlenecks in purifying desert sand into photovoltaic-grade material, marking a significant step in the high-end application of silica resources and extending the value chain of the quartz sand industry. It also achieved breakthroughs that pushed purity indices to >99.5% SiO₂ and <0.01% Fe₂O₃ (100 ppm), meeting the stringent criteria for solar-grade quartz sand.
