2.8 GW solar, wind and storage project: Indian renewable energy company ReNew Energy Global Plc will invest INR 220 billion ($2.5 billion) to establish what it says will be one of the largest hybrid renewable energy complexes at a single location in India. The project in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur district will host around 2.8 GW capacity comprising 1.8 GW solar, 1 GW wind and 2 GWh of battery energy storage system (BESS). Phase I will see the company setting up 587 MW of solar, 250 MW of wind and a 415 MWh BESS. It has already secured power purchase agreements (PPA) for this capacity. ReNew will deploy solar panels made by the company at its manufacturing facilities in Rajasthan’s Jaipur, and Gujarat’s Dholera. It also plans to use solar trackers and waterless robotic cleaning for solar panels to save water.
Recently, ReNew raised INR 8.7 billion ($100 million) the UK development finance institution British International Investment (BII) for its Indian solar manufacturing subsidiary ReNew Photovoltaics Private Limited to invest in a new state-of-the-art 4 GW TOPCon cell fab in Dholera. This brings to the BII a minority stake in ReNew Photovoltaics whose current portfolio comprises 6.4 GW solar PV module facility and a 2.5 GW cell factory in Jaipur and Dholera.
BluPine lands loan for 100 MW: Indian renewable energy platform established by private equity investor Actis, BluPine Energy Private Limited has achieved financial close for INR 3.76 billion ($45.3 million) from Standard Chartered for its upcoming 100 MW solar power project in Tharad, Gujarat. To be built by its subsidiary Solarcraft Power India 5, the project is scheduled to be commissioned in H1 2026. BluPine is mandated to develop over 4 GW clean energy portfolio in India.
PPA for 810 MW solar: NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL), the renewable energy arm of NLC India Limited (NLCIL), has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) for its 810 MW solar power project in Rajasthan. This PPA with Rajasthan Rajvya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RPVUNL) for NIRL’s project at 2 GW Pugal Solar Park in Bikaner was won by the company under a competitive bidding process. It is being implemented under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s (MNRE) Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park (UMREPP) Scheme—Mode B.
