e-STORAGE, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar Inc., is showcasing its latest utility-scale battery energy storage system (BESS), the SolBank 3.0 Plus, at booth no A2.380 in Intersolar Europe 2025.
According to the company, this new containerized solution features high-density, long-life LFP cells paired with active balancing BMS technology and offers a total storage capacity of up to 5.016 MWh. The modular system is built around a 12-rack configuration (12P416S), with each rack comprising 4 battery packs (1P416S). Each pack contains 104 battery cells, arranged in a 1P104S layout.
In terms of charging and discharging performance, the system can absorb or deliver 1.2 MW and 2.4 MW of DC power, respectively, corresponding to C-rates of 0.5P and 0.25P, for durations of 2 and 4 hours. According to the company, the battery exhibits a near-zero degradation curve for the first 4 years and can perform up to 12,000 charge-discharge cycles at a round-trip efficiency of 95%. It is offered with a 25-year lifespan warranty.
To enhance energy efficiency, its intelligent liquid cooling system reduces auxiliary power consumption by up to 30% and maintains noise levels below 75 dB. On the safety front, the SolBank 3.0 Plus is equipped with advanced features such as fire detection and alarm, explosion prevention, an uninterrupted power reserve, emergency START/STOP functions, and an optional fire suppression system.
The system is compatible with various power conversion systems (PCS) topologies and supports a wide range of utility-scale PV + BESS applications.
Colin Parkin, President of e-STORAGE, stated: “SolBank 3.0 Plus is perfectly designed for integration into e-STORAGE’s all-in-one battery energy storage solution, offering our customers a new level of safety and performance. This launch marks a significant milestone in our commitment to innovation and excellence. With enhanced performance, safety, and operational efficiency, we aim to meet the growing demands of utility-scale energy storage projects worldwide and reaffirm Canadian Solar's leadership in the energy storage industry.”
