While nurturing values beyond €/Wp, such as €/integratability, €/aesthetics, and €/robustness, a few mainstream or niche PV companies are offering solutions like building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), vertical PV, floating PV, and more, typically associated with special application modules.
FuturaSun, an Italian PV module manufacturer, is set to showcase its broad product portfolio at the upcoming Intersolar Europe 2025. The company’s offerings will emphasize key attributes such as aesthetics, architectural elegance, resilience, and more.
Performance With Aesthetics
Aligning high-efficiency PV modules with the aesthetics of different buildings' architecture is the USP of the company’s Silk Nova Colour series. The company will highlight multiple next-generation models that are part of this series, including Silk Nova Red, Silk Nova Orange, Silk Nova Green Duetto, and Silk Nova Silver, at the upcoming exhibition.
The Silk Nova Red module, equipped with 108 M10 half-cut cells, boasts a power output and efficiency of up to 370 W and 18.97%, respectively. Engineered for installation over clay-tiled roofs, this glass-backsheet module, sized at 1,722 × 1,134 × 30 mm, features red-colored glass and frame, similar to RAL 3005 color grade.
Its orange (similar to RAL 8007) counterpart, Silk Nova Orange, featuring 96 G12R half-cut cells, can deliver a power output of up to 400 W and an efficiency of up to 20.02%. Suitable for traditional roofs with terracotta tiles and historical areas, this module is sized at 1,762 × 1,134 × 30 mm and laminated with 3.2 mm front glass and composite multilayer rear film, weighing up to 21.3 kg, according to the company datasheet.
The Silk Nova Green Duetto series, comprising 96 G12R n-type bifacial half-cut cells, boasts a power output and efficiency of up to 410 W and 20.53%, respectively, says the company's datasheet. Laminated with 2 mm thick green colored rear glass (similar to RAL 6000) and ARC-coated front glass in combination with green colored frame, this module, sized at 1,762 × 1,134 × 30 mm, is best suited for green field installation and fences.
Identical to the mentioned colored modules under the Silk Nova Colour series, the Silk Nova Silver glass-backsheet model, assembled with 96 G12R n-type half-cut cells, offers a power output of up to 390 W and an efficiency of up to 19.52%. Available in a 1,762 × 1,134 × 30 mm dimension, this grey-colored module is targeted at contemporary roofs or facades.
FuturaSun offers a product warranty of up to 15 years for all the above-mentioned models. While the green variant has a performance warranty of up to 30 years, the rest are offered with a warranty of up to 25 years.
Resilience Against Extreme Conditions
FuturaSun will also highlight its Silk Rhino model for extreme weather events, such as hail impact, high snow load, or wind load. This module, featuring 96 M10-size half-cut n-type cells, offers a power output of up to 455 W and an efficiency of up to 22.77%, according to its datasheet. Engineered to withstand snow loads of up to 7,800 Pa and 5,400 Pa wind load, this module is available in dimensions of 1,762 × 1,134 × 30 mm. Featuring a 4 mm thick tempered glass at the front and a composite white multilayer backsheet, FuturaSun says it is also certified to withstand up to a class 5 level hailstorm. It offers a standard product and performance warranty of up to 15 and 25 years, respectively on this module.
High Power
Targeted at high power applications, the company will showcase its Silk Nova series, offering a power output of up to 720 W. Featuring a compact design, this module is built with G12R-size cells. FuturaSun will be displaying 3 models under this category – Silk Nova Duetto (Glass-Glass, 450 Wp), a Glass-Backsheet version (460 Wp), and Silk Nova Premium Max Duetto (720 Wp).
The dual-glass Silk Nova Duetto model, boasting 450 W under less than 2 m², is targeted at northern European rooftop projects. Its glass-backsheet-based lightweight counterpart can deliver up to 460 W. Designed at 2,384 × 1,134 × 35 mm and equipped with 132 G12 half-cut cells, Silk Nova Premium Max Duetto can deliver a power output of up to 720 W and an efficiency of 23.18%, making it suitable for utility-scale applications.
Hybrid Inverter
Lastly, the company will be launching FuturaPlus, its latest hybrid inverter series. These inverters, featuring modularity, will be available under the 1-phase and 3-phase categories with a power range of 3 kW and 15 kW.
