LAS VEGAS — Eric Brown, senior director of solutions consulting for Vimeo, is all for using AI for all sorts of video needs, like auto editing, analysis, enhanced personalization, and streamlining workflows.
But Vimeo draws the line at training generative AI models using videos hosted on the company’s platform without explicit consent. And Vimeo certainly won’t use AI to alter any of the videos on its platform.
“What we found … especially the creator community was ‘Don’t touch my video. I don’t want you to modify it, this is my content,’” he said, speaking April 5 at the Content Delivery & Security Association’s (CDSA) Summit at the NAB Show. “It’s very much the mentality of take what you have, make it easier, better, faster, all the stuff that you would want from AI, without actually taking your content and changing it.”
During his presentation — “AI and the Future of Video for Enterprise Organizations” — Brown explored how AI is revolutionizing corporate video strategies, moving beyond simple production enhancements to fundamentally reshape internal and external communications. AI-driven video analytics from Vimeo have proven to be a catalyst for optimizing marketing campaigns and can automate video localization for global teams.
And the use of AI-enabled interactive video for immersive learning shows how enterprises can leverage AI to unlock unprecedented efficiency, scalability, and impact in video initiatives.
The Vimeo AI engine allows content creators to have more iterations in editing process, index and search large libraries, reduce manual tasks, and automatically translate content from other languages, Brown said. He shared an example of the American Society of Echocardiography using Vimeo AI to communicate to users across multiple locations and languages with a limited budget.
For enterprise partners, Vimeo AI has proven a boon for those working within budgetary constraints, he added.
“It does give you that starting place and the nice thing about it is you’re not going out to a third-party service that your company doesn’t approve you’re just you’re in the tool that’s already an approved tool,” he said.
