Low-Load-Bearing Roof Solutions
After briefly outlining GoodWe’s BIPV solution offerings, Terreni provided a detailed insight into the Galaxy Series BIPV solutions – Galaxy Ultra and Galaxy Plus – for low-load-bearing roofs such as roofs of a capacity of up to 10 kg/m². The Galaxy Ultra, equipped with 1.6 mm thin tempered glass and a TPO waterproofing membrane back layer, can be installed directly on the roof using hot air welding. In contrast, the Galaxy Plus series, without any TPO waterproofing membrane, is suitable for glued or clamped installations, Terreni explained.
Sized at 2,319 x 777 x 4 mm and weighing 6 kg/m², the Galaxy Ultra boasts a power output of up to 315 W. The Galaxy Plus, measuring 2,116 x 777 x 3.5 mm and weighing 5.6 kg/m², delivers a power output of up to 335 W.
For long-term durability and reliability, the company recommends gluing the Galaxy Plus modules directly to metal roofs with trapezoidal sheets. For flat roof installations, ventilation strips are required to mitigate the potential risk of hotspots. To assess optimal ventilation height and reduce overheating, GoodWe conducted ventilation-temperature testing on the Galaxy Series. The results showed that the backsheet temperature decreases as the height of the ventilation strip increases within a specific interval.
On various commercial and industrial (C&I) roofs, the company recommends an adhesive gluing installation method at the crest of the metal roof, followed by direct fixation of the Galaxy Plus module. The interval between 2 consecutive courses of silicon glue should be no more than 450 mm, and the distance from the edge of the glass to the nearest steel crest should be no more than 100 mm, noted Terreni. For bitumen flat roofs, GoodWe suggests a specific adhesive gluing method to ensure long-term durability. Additionally, for different types of metal roof structures – such as angle ridge, standing seam, and low-standing seam roofs – GOODWE offers suitable clamping solutions for Galaxy Plus module installation.
To ensure the quality of the Galaxy Plus modules, the production process undergoes multiple quality control steps, including appearance and dimension control, performance testing, and reliability testing. The product’s reliability has been validated by independent 3rd party agencies according to international standards for hail impact resistance, hotspot resistance, and mechanical load resistance, adds Terreni.
