家宴：记芒格书院与北大Future Leaders的一次交流活动

■ 1月15日，北大光华管理学院“Future leader”项目的5位学生拜访了芒格书院，与书院创始人施宏俊、主笔杨紫琳等人进行了有关阅读学习、人生规划和商业投资等话题的深入交流。

晚上，施宏俊夫妇邀请5位学生来到了自己的家中，并准备了丰盛的家宴。

以下为5位光华学子此次活动的收获与反馈。

读书不只是从头到尾读一遍，还需要提炼、学习和讨论，以最大限度地提高学习效果，并真正将收获内化于心。

Investing in a company is more than just trading, but also treating it like you're a part of it.

投资一家公司不仅仅是一种交易，而是要将自己视作企业的所有者。

Business is about being agile and finding creative ways to adapt a business model to change (i.e. adopting a membership-based club model to combat the decline in growth of his publishing company).

做生意要讲究灵活应变，要找到具有创意的方法来调整商业模式以应对变化。（比如，采用会员制俱乐部模式来应对出版公司增长放缓的问题）。

If you are passionate about an idea or goal, your organization does not necessarily have to be profit-driven but has a philanthropic purpose.

如果你对某个想法或目标充满热情，你的组织不一定非要以盈利为目的，而是可以以慈善作为宗旨。

Time compounding is the greatest, to live is always better than dying young.

时间的复利是最伟大的，活着总是比英年早逝要好。

We should not be afraid of ageing, sometimes young people are anxious about hitting new milestones (23, 25, 27, 30), as feel that we have less and less potential. Instead, we should see our experiences and increasing wisdom as being able to make us enjoy a better life.

我们不应惧怕衰老，年轻人有时会在遇到新的年龄节点（23岁、25岁、27岁、30岁）时焦虑不安。我们不应觉得自己的可能性越来越少。相反，我们应当把积累的经验和日益增长的智慧视为享受更好生活的资本。

We taught Shi's child English. And he, a 7-year-old, taught Jack, 20 years old , Mandarin. Therefore, the takeaway here is: that no matter who, anyone can have something to learn from the other.

我们教施先生的孩子英语。而7岁的他也教20岁的Jack汉语。所以，这里要说明的是：任何人都可以从他人身上学习到一些东西。

Before coming to this visit, all I knew about Charlie Munger was that he was Warren Buffet’s partner. As Charlie Munger wasthe main inspiration and image of the publisher we visited, I got to learn he was different from Buffet. Buffet specialized in investment, but Munger had a hunger to learn about how the world works which allowed him to be known as the “designer” of Berkshire Hathaway while Buffet wasthe “construction worker”. From one of his quotes, I found a lot of peace in the idea that it’s not about having many exceptional achievements but avoiding pitfalls to ensure small successes add up to a prosperous life.

在此次参观之前，我对查理·芒格的了解仅限于他是沃伦·巴菲特的搭档。由于查理·芒格是此次我们参观的出版团队的主要灵感来源和形象代表，我了解到他与巴菲特有所不同。巴菲特专长于投资，而芒格则渴望了解世界运行的规律，这使他被誉为伯克希尔·哈撒韦公司的“设计师”，而巴菲特则是“建筑总包”。从他的一句名言中，我找到了内心的平静——人生并非在于取得众多非凡成就，而在于避免陷阱，确保小的成功不断累积，从而成就繁荣的人生。

Today I learnt the significance of 家宴。Mr. Shi explained to usthat hosting guests in your home instead of taking them out to eat reflects how much you value your guests. This is because it takes much more effort to host at home – from preparation to cooking to washing and cleaning – showing sincerity. One of the dishes, 红烧牛肉， was prepared 3 days in advance by his wife. I was really touched by the kindness and enthusiasm that they extended to us – not to mention the meal was extremely delicious and it felt very homely to enjoy the food that they usually have at home (家常菜). This is something that I will consider when hosting guests in the future as well.

今天我明白了“家宴”的意义。施先生向我们解释说，在家招待客人而不是带他们出去吃饭，这体现了你对客人的重视程度。因为在家招待客人需要付出更多的努力——从准备到烹饪再到洗刷和打扫，这都彰显了诚意。其中一道菜，红烧牛肉，是他的妻子提前三天准备好的。他们的热情和好客让我们深受感动。这顿饭极其美味，吃着他们平时在家吃的家常菜，感觉非常温馨。这也是我今后招待客人时会考虑的事情。

Today I learnt some really important philosophical ideas of Charlie Munger. It’s not just about investment, but more about how to be a decent person with proper quality in the long run in our life. For example, the idea of “Time compounding is the greatest compounding” reminds me of how some short-term anxieties are unnecessary and we should really have a peaceful mindset and look into the long run.

今天我了解到了查理·芒格的一些非常重要的哲学理念。这不仅仅关乎投资，更多的是关于如何在我们的人生中长久地成为一个有良好品质的正派人。比如，“时间的复利是最大的复利”这一理念让我意识到一些短期的焦虑是不必要的，我们真的应该保持平和的心态，着眼于长远。

The social research experiences my group participated in today were the epitome of the China Immersion program whereby I had the opportunity to be reminded of the character that embodies a future leader, specifically the act of being humble and kind. Mr. Shi is a very successful businessman, and despite all he accomplished,he remained humbled and treated us students with great respect. Subsequently, I am reminded that kindness can go a long way in business as it impacts the impression of others on you. Kindness should be extended to everyone and transcend all ages. As such, I had a great time bonding with his child and learning Mandarin from him. Notably, it was an amusing and enlightening experience having Chinese from a 7-year-old child.

我们小组今天参与的社会调研活动是“未来领导者”项目的缩影，让我有机会再次领悟到未来领导者应有的品质，尤其是谦逊和友善。施先生是一位非常成功的商人，尽管成就斐然，但他依然保持谦逊，对我们也十分尊重。这让我意识到，在商界友善待人能产生深远影响，因为它会改变他人对你的看法。友善应当施予每一个人，不分年龄。我也很开心能和他孩子相处，并向他学习汉语。值得一提的是，从一个七岁孩子那里学习中文，既有趣又令人受益匪浅。

We engaged in a conversation regarding startups and entrepreneurship. It was shared with usthat the key to starting your entrepreneurial journey isfinding what you’re truly interested in, even if it may not yield the best returns monetarily. He gave the example of a friend who loves travelling and ended up building a business model overseas, or he himself was interested in changing the way people read in China, therefore establishing 芒格书院 and the reading clubs.

我们进行了一次关于创业和企业家精神的对话。施先生告诉我们，开始创业之旅的关键是找到你真正感兴趣的东西，即使它可能不会带来最好的经济回报。他举了一个例子，一个喜欢旅行的朋友最终在海外建立了一个商业模式。又比如他自己对改变中国人的阅读方式很感兴趣，因此创办了芒格书院。

非常感谢你们的热情款待！我们未曾料想在上海的第一天就收到如此多的善意、热情与哲学信条。我们下午在咖啡厅探讨芒格的为人处事与投资哲学，学习到“时间是最强大的复利”的理念，真切地减轻了心中的焦虑。晚上的家宴更是让我们在离家乡千里之外的上海感受到了家的温暖。祝施老师、杨老师、Biubiu 身体健康、事业（学业）顺利、阖家幸福！
