Micromobility giant Segway launched two new e-bikes at CES 2025 that are designed to make the experience of riding a bike easier, safer, more convenient, and more accessible.
The new bikes – the Xyber that’s giving dirt bike energy, and the classic-looking Xafari – are available for pre-order now, with expected delivery in February, according to Segway.
And while both bikes are different in vibe and aesthetic, they both share Segway’s Intelligent Ride System, the company’s suite of smart tech and features, including: AirLock, which automatically shuts out the bike to unauthorized users and sounds the alarm if someone tries to mess with the bike; Apple Find My and Segway GPS; adaptive pedal assist; intelligent lighting system; health and fitness data syncing; IOT for over-the-air updates and remote control via the app; and a smart TFT display that automatically adjusts brightness for maximum visibility.
Segway says its Xyber defies categorization. And turns out that’s true – it’s not even road legal. The company says the Xyber is “unclassified” and “not intended for use on public roadways or bike paths.” That’s because the bike is packing some serious heat. It features up to 175 Nm max torque, up to 6,000 watts of peak power, and a top speed of 35 miles per hour in its dual-battery configuration.
The Xyber, priced at $2,999.99, has three throttle modes – Eco, Sport, and Race. In Race mode, it’ll punch it from 0 to 20 miles per hour in just 2.7 seconds. The bike can also fly for 112 miles between a charge on those 20 x 5-inch fat tires. And even though the Xyber looks like something in between a dirt bike and a motorcycle, it still comes with pedals and 12 different levels of pedal-assist.
For those who want to take this bad boy to the streets, there will be a road-legal version coming in spring or summer of this year, Segway says. It will comply with federal Class 2 e-bike designations and come with additional safety features for on-road use.
At $2,399.99, Segway’s Xafari is your classic yet modern step-through cruiser, suitable for all terrains and even all riders. Everything is easily adjustable – the seat height, the stem, the handlebar, and even the display, so riders from 5’1” to 6’2” can get comfortable.
Speaking of comfort, the Xafari takes its suspension very seriously, with adjustable preload and compression damping and lockout on the fork to keep the ride smooth. The bike also boasts 26 x 3-inch tires for a little extra support.
The 936 Kw battery is placed seamlessly in the stem, and can be removed for indoor charging, and its smart battery management system helps the Xafari get a range of up to 88 miles. That battery can also power your cell phone so you can charge while you ride via the USB port and an easy-clamp phone holder on the bar. But riders may not need their phones, as the Xafari has an integrated smart display featuring navigation, range, music, and more.
Finally, the bike is great for people who want to use it to run errands; it comes with a rear-mounted rack and in-frame hardshell and softshell bags for extra storage on the go.
