In its latest event, OpenAI revealed that it is launching adesktop app of ChatGPT, a new and faster model ‘GPT-4o,’ and bringing UIchanges to ChatGPT on web.
ChatGPT works a little differently in the desktop app. When you open it on yourdesktop next to a program, ChatGPT can answer any queries related to whateveris displayed on your screen. To ask questions, you can use the Option + Spacekeyboard shortcut, as well as take and share screenshots with the app to obtainChatGPT’s response. Currently, the app’s availability is only limited toChatGPT Plus users, but it will be expanded to all users with a broader rolloutin the coming weeks.
In addition to this launch, OpenAI also introduced a new GPT-4product: GPT-4o, a faster multimodal model that can be accessed for free byanyone. It can generate content and understand commands across all modalities:voice, text, and images.
Lastly, OpenAI also announced that ChatGPT is getting arefreshed UI on web. The UI changes are apparently minor, however, including anew home screen and message layout.
The new ChatGPT desktop app will initially work for macOS,while a Windows version can be expected later this year.
